    Matt Duke是一个自学吉他成才的歌手。当他还是少年的时候，Matt拿起吉他学习仅仅是为了能够获得女孩的芳心。在开始自己摆弄吉他之后，Duke体验到音乐的魅力，于是和他的好朋友Brendan在一个咖啡厅里表演自己创作的歌曲。一开始他们的音乐非常之烂，但后来随着经验的积累，他们的音乐也越来越出色。《Kingdom Underground》是Duke在Rykodisc的第一张专辑，在此之前他还发行过《XYX》和《Winter Child》。Duke擅长创作复杂的旋律，和其他年轻人一样对爱情、生活、死亡以及他们自己不停地思考和感悟着。在Duke的音乐中，jazz、folk、pop甚至是grunge以及prograssive rock你都可以听到，他就是这样把这些音乐类型巧妙地融合在一起，玩着属于自己的音乐。
